SPARSH - LATEST DETAILS & SUBMISSION OF LIFE CERTIFICATES

THIS IS OUR LATEST CONSOLIDATED ACTION POST - OCT 2023 (updated)

SPARSH SOME EMERGING ASPECTS

SPARSH is the acronym used for “System for Pension Administration Raksha” and is an integrated system for automation of sanction and disbursement of Defence Pension.

GO STEADY & SLOW

Most young tree saplings spend their early decades under the shade of their mother's canopy. Limited sunlight means they grow slowly.
Slow growth leads to dense, hard wood.

But something interesting happens if you plant a tree in an open field: free from the shade of bigger trees, the sapling gorges on sunlight and grows fast.
Fast growth leads to soft, airy wood that didn't have time to densify.
and soft, airy wood is a breeding ground for fungus, disease, and ultimately a short life.

BANK MERGER - AN INSPIRING STORY

Syndicate Bank merged with Canara Bank on 1st April 2020.

With bank mergers taking place and banks losing their identity, here is a little-known story of a once-private Syndicate Bank, which started with a 25-paise deposit...

There are three reasons why Syndicate Bank is important in the evolution of India as a wealth generator and for working towards the upliftment of the masses.

EXPIRY IN MEDICINES

Before 1979 no expiry  date was mentioned  on medicines, this practice started in USA in 1979. An article shared by Dr Mohsin Jaffer of Florida, USA_

*DO MEDICINES REALLY EXPIRE OR ARE WE TAKEN FOR A RIDE?*

*A Family of Doctors in England & in  Mumbai* have been hammering the point that *medicines don't expire....*
By Richard Altschuler

If a bottle of Tylenol, (Paracetamol) for example, says something like "Do not use after June 1998," and it is August 2002, should you take the Tylenol? Should you discard it? Can you get hurt if you take it? Will it simply have lost its potency and do you no good?

RESTAURANT - THIS WORLD IS

1972 - USA

The facts Some history not to be forgotten
The year was 1971 and the month November.

"If India pokes its nose in Pakistan, US will not keep its trap shut. India will be taught a lesson"
- Richard Nixon.

"India regards America as a friend. Not a boss. India is capable of writing its own destiny. We know and are aware how to deal with each one according to circumstances"
- Indira Gandhi

PRAYER - OF KIND

*'The real reason for our blessings'*

There is a cafe near my house which is mostly full of customers & we invariably have to wait.  I have noticed many times that a person comes and takes advantage of the crowd & after eating, secretly leaves without paying.

I have covered enough wars to know that once you open that Pandora's box,
the many evils that pour out are beyond anyone's control. War accelerates
the whirlwind of industrial killing. The longer any war continues, the
closer and closer each side comes to self-annihilation.

PAKISTAN'S PROBLEM

*Pakistan's General Problem.*

How Pakistan's Generals turned the country into an international jihadi tourist resort.  By Mohammad Hanif
_(Mohammed Hanif is the author of A Case of Exploding Mangoes (2008), his first novel, a satire on the death of General Zia ul Haq)_

What is the last thing you say to your best general when ordering him into a do-or-die mission? A prayer maybe, if you are religiously inclined. A short lecture, underlining the importance of the mission, if you want to keep it businesslike. Or maybe you'll wish him good luck accompanied by a clicking of the heels and a final salute.

OROP - OBSESSION

*HOW OROP BECAME AN OBSESSION ?*
By Brig BL Poonia, VSM (Retd)_

_On this issue, the govt's stand in the Supreme Court was crisp clear, that this being a policy matter, it fell exclusively within the domain of the Executive, and the Judiciary had no jurisdiction to dictate terms and conditions._

_The Ex-Servicemen's League quoted the Finance Minister's speech in the Parliament defining OROP. But the Supreme Court said, "It cannot issue a mandamus to implement a statement made in the Parliament. A minister's statement given during a budget speech is not legally enforceable, that is our judgment."_

SIACHIN DEAL

Today, the man himself who witnessed the deal between India and Pakistan has exposed the Congress's double face.

*'Shyam Saran, who was the Foreign Secretary of India until 2006,* in his upcoming book part-history-part-memoir titled *'How India Sees the World,'* has revealed that he along with his Pakistani counterpart Riaz Mohammad Khan had struck a deal on *'Orders of Congress Government to take back Indian troops and give away the Siachen Glacier to Pakistan.'*

RANKS - ARMY NEEDS TO LEARN

ARMY NEEDS TO LEARN
By
Brigadier V Mahalingam (Retired)

The pay commission has done it yet again. The Army has not been equated with the IAS. Was it not expected? The problem with the Services is, we are not prepared to change or learn. I believe, the so-called pyramid is a self-created one and the problem can be overcome only if we are prepared to change. There are two clear ways out of the problem.

I CARDS MARRIED DAUGHTERS

*Exclusion of ex-servicemen's married daughters from ID cards unconstitutional: HC*

The exclusion of married daughters for granting identity (ID) cards to dependents of ex-servicemen in terms of guideline 5 (c) of the Guidelines is violative of Articles 14 and 15 of the Constitution, the High Court of Karnataka has ruled.
Justice M Nagaprasanna said this while directing the authorities to issue an ID card to Priyanka R Patil, the daughter of an ex-serviceman.

THE NEUROBICS

*The Neurobic*.  Alzheimer's causes the person to lose memory and can no longer have feelings of pleasure and joy, nor control of their own organs.
The patient loses the Consciousness about his actions and his own Identity, because he will no longer be able to recognize himself.  He loses character, will and power of decision, they do not recognize his friends and family, and not even his own children.

SOCIAL RULES

*SOME SOCIAL RULES THAT MAY HELP YOU*

These *Manners* are a part & parcel of the life of an Officer of the Armed Forces
*Rules*
1. Don't call someone more than twice continuously. If they don't pick up your call, presume they have something important to attend to;

2. Return money that you have borrowed even before the person that borrowed you remember or ask for it. It shows your integrity and character. Same goes with umbrellas, pens and lunch boxes.

HOME

*PERMANENT ADDRESS*

I was only 9.  There was pensive silence at home when days after the happy news of my dads promotion in a nationalised bank he received orders of transfer as a branch manager to a small village in Rajasthan. We were then in Ahmedabad and this also happened to be the time he was building a house next to our ancestral home.

I had seen him struggle with numbers, adding, subtracting, circling staff loans and FDs he would break and putting a question mark against a few empty spaces in the total.

DESTRUCTION OF A NATION

*SELF DESTRUCTION OF A GREAT NATION*

*MUKUL DEV*

India is the only country where there are 400+ Lt Gen rank wearing police officers  (Army has 83 Lt Gens, though being 1.3 million).

Out of 400 plus DG and ADG post officers, 40 plus are drawing salary equivalent of Army Comander  from 25 years of service till they retire( even DG NDRF having strength less then 5 infantry battalions draw Army commanders salary).

CYBER CRIME ALERT

CYBERCRIME ALERT..

Today I wish to alert you all about the devastating effects of AI in our every day life, subjecting one to financial and other frauds, based on my personal experience. I always used to believe that nothing would happen to me and used to listen to all such stories with a pinch of salt.

Old days

THOSE WERE THE DAYS 😊

My mum used to spread butter on bread to make sandwiches, chop eggs, vegetables & fruits on the same cutting board with the same knife, but we didn't seem to get food poisoning.

Our school sandwiches were wrapped in paper in a brown paper bag, not in ice pack coolers and stayed that way till lunchtime but I can't remember anyone getting E. Coli.

CYBER FRAUDS

1962 - TRAGEDY - MESSED UP

How Nehru's proteges messed it up

Claude Arpi
This article is dedicated to all those who died during the 1962 Sino-Indian war; to those who suffered for months in the PoW camps in Tibet; to those who were humiliated for no fault of theirs; to their families.

Let us hope that what happened in 1962 will never happened again, prays Claude Arpi

GEN HARBAKSH WHO SAVED PUNJAB - 1965

The general who saved Punjab in the 1965 War

By Gurmeet Kanwal    September 7, 2015

Lieutenant General Harbakhsh Singh, GOC, Western Command, disobeyed the then army chief and took on a superior Pakistani armoured column. The Indian Centurion tanks outgunned the more modern Pakistani Patton tanks in the battle at Khem Karan, that proved the turning point of the 1965 War.

Brigadier Gurmeet Kanwal (retd) salutes the Soldiers' General.

Some war images stick permanently in the mind and that of Lieutenant General Harbakhsh Singh, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Command, standing atop the Haji Pir Pass after its capture by India during the 1965 war with Pakistan, is one of them.

HOW CHINA PREPARED FOR 1962 WAR

Revealed: How China prepared for 1962 war

Ajai Shukla    December 15, 2017

From March 1959 to March 1962, the PLA fought 12 major battles in central Tibet which was seen as an opportunity to train China's soldiers, notes Ajai Shukla.

In pathbreaking research into the Tibetan uprising between 1956 and 1959, and the lead-up to the 1962 war, Chinese scholar Jianglin Li has accessed Chinese Communist Party documents and interviewed People's Liberation Army veterans from that war to present critical new aspects of that period's history.

SALUTE - REZAG LA HEROES

Why Every Indian Must Salute The Heroes of Rezang La       By KULPREET YADAV

It will never be possible to recreate an exact account of this epic battle to remember and honour other brave jawans, but one thing the nation will always do is to bow down their heads in respect and reverence at the war memorial at Chushul called The Rezang La War Memorial -- Ahir Dham.

APJ

This was way back in 1998. Our PSLV missile program was in full swing . But it was being done clandestinely to avoid detection by US spy satellites . The program director was Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, who we did not recognize at that time .

The cryogenic engines used were secretly shipped to Chennai port from where they were airlifted by our heavy lift helicopter..

LESSONS

We have learnt no lessons from the 1962 defeat

By Virendra Kapoor
March 21, 2014 11:41 IST
More than half-a-century after humiliation in the 1962 war, India is still not prepared to take on the Chinese dragon.

Every now and then, that dragon flexes its muscles, reminding India the threat persists, says Virendra Kapoor.

Do they ever learn?

Within minutes of the top secret Henderson Brooks report into the 1962 Chinese debacle being posted on a Web site, the government moved fast to block access.
