OUR PORTALS - EMAILING

OUR MAILING GROUPS - POLICY ON POSTING OF MESSAGES

Dear Veterans,

1.    I have been interacting with you all from time to time on our mailing groups "THE BIGGER FAMILY" AND  “THE SIGNALS FAMILY” giving you all details in the past ON HOW TO POST YOUR MAILS .  Please permit me to once again mention the details so that one can save them and post one’s messages to the Signals Fraternity without any hassles. We are now a net worked “SIGNALS PARIVAAR”.

2.    MAILING GROUPS. We have two mailing groups of your concern:-

2a.     First one is my global “SIGNALS FAMILY” (Gp Mail ID - signalsfamily@googlegroups.com) We have over 2400 veterans incl Senior officers of our Corps mostly veterans but for few serving ones as well. Any of the members can post his/her mails to the entire group concerning matters of interest to the signal veterans all over, their mail will be delivered instantly to all the 2400 members after scan clearance. There is, however, a very strict policy of how and what all can be posted by the members which has been passed on several times to all members.

2b. The second one is limited to Delhi and NCR “SIGNALS NCR FAMILY” (Gp Mail ID - signalsncr@googlegroups.com ) . There are approx. 500 mail Ids in this and is used to interact on domestic matters and events limited to NCR incl Delhi NOIDA, Faridabad and Ghaziabad. The said policy is also applicable here as well, so that no FALTOO ,mails by trigger happy members do not reach hundreds of inboxes of the recipients.

3.   POLICY – In order to ensure that only relevant mails reach the recipients, all mails posted by the members are auto scanned in our system e-filters which has been developed by a good colleague and donated to us. The system scans all mails and looks for some parametersin the text and trashes / blocks the mails without giving any notification to the sender or to us. The sender must ensure following for his/her mail to be cleared to the group:-

3a. It should be a mail composed by the sender and not be a copy pasted or forwarded mail.

3b. Should be only and singularly addressed to Gp mail ID in the “TO” address field and no where else.

3c. There should be NO mail ID in “TO, CC or BCC” address fields, which is currently the main cause of most of the rejections by the system.

3d. Please note that direct replies to the gp mails received by the recipients are also blocked. However if one needs to reply the replies should be separately addressed as a forwarded msg to the sender or any one else, one wishes to address but not to the group mail ID in addition.

3e. The subject line must be clean without any special characters, so done to block forwards.

3f. The text must not contain such words or combination of words which get related to Politics, religion, governance, personal opinions, controversial issues etc so that unconcerned mails for all members are not transmitted. This module is regularly updated by us to incl additional text combinations.

3g. There should be no business like promotion of any kind.

3h. There should be no reference to Facebook, WhatsApp or Twitter and must not contain any hyperlinks or shortened URLs in the text or the attachments.

3j. The pictures if embedded in the mail must not exceed 100Kb to avoid any hidden virus in them.

3k. If the system suspects any kind of malware in the email the same is blocked.

4.  SPECIAL NOTE – All mails addressed to mgr.grps@gmail.com are seen by three of us and replied accordingly. Irrespective of the policy we have the provision to by pass and clear mails in emergency or messages which need immediate attention such as demise of a veteran or schedule of any Corps Event etc if informed through a separate mail or WhatsApp.

5.   OUR WEB SITE – Our Web Blog Site ( https://signals-parivaar.blogspot.com) has now become an authentic portal for the veterans to pick up any required information they need on Service Matters, Pension Matters and Govt Provisions, ECHS Provisions, RODRA, CSD, Income Tax, Corps domestic matters in addition to a large number of assorted articles for your leisure reading so contributed by veterans and E-books on military and social themes. All this material and guidelines are available to the veterans FREE without any financial cost or restrictions. This site is a major storehouse of IMPORTANT INFORMATION for the veterans and to be so. There is nothing what Veterans need which is not there.
Our portals were launched in 2008 first for the information of the signallers and later opened for all arms and services of the Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force.

6.     Lastly We are grateful to our readers whose support has always been encouraging the three of us in managing our services to the community directly to over 11000 veteran members living all over the globes to be precise in 90 countries from where we have been getting hits on our site, now totalling over 20.5 Lakhs.

With Best Wishes and regards

FLIGHT

Three flight attendants who served first lady Jacqueline Kennedy during her flight from Italy to India in the first pic ....
Long before the social media influencers and paparazzi-friendly society It girls came the Air India hostesses of the 1960s and '70s, inarguably the first style tribe we know. These young ladies were intelligent, chic and the perfect ambassadors for India abroad.
It was the age of innocence, the age of Aquarius; the age of miniskirts and bell-bottoms; go-go boots and hippy saris; the Beatles were singing 'A Hard Day's Night', and somewhere, in a well-appointed boardroom in Bombay, every Thursday, two men—the legendary aviator and industrialist JRD Tata and his commercial director SK (Bobby) Kooka, would be personally picking the most glamorous girls in the country to fly their nascent airline.

Independence

REAL STORY OF OUR INDEPENDENCE
Everyone has been taught the story of India's freedom. Anyone, anywhere in the world could tell you that the British left India because of the non-violent, Quit India movement led by Gandhi.*

That's what we are taught in schools. I too believed in this, until I got interested in reading about one of our greatest actors Utpal Dutt,

FLAGS AND BADGES  OF RANKS -  AFTER INDEPENDENCE

*How India adopted its military flags and badges based on Lord Mountbatten's suggestions* ...

The new Naval Ensign (flag), which was unveiled on 02 Sep 2022, has brought into focus the flags and ranks adopted by the Indian military after Independence.

Documents accessed from National Archives of India show that Lord Louis Mountbatten, former Viceroy and Governor General of India, played a major role in suggesting new flags and rank badges when India was about to become a Republic on January 26, 1950.

"One of the greatest ironies of the 1965 War is the unjust criticism heaped on 1 Armoured Division after the War. The bitter truth of the 1965 War is that 1 Armoured Division was never fully employed either at Khem Karan or at Sialkot."(from History of the Indo-Pak War – 1965 by Lt. Gen. Mahmud Ahmed)
