HOLIKA DAHAN - MULTAN

*Holi*  originated from Multan Bharat, but from 1947 after a brutal  partition, it's now in Pakistan, where the last ruins of the ancient Prahladpuri Temple still exists after it was destroyed by a Jihadi mob in 1992.  Do not forget this when burning the *Holika Dahan* with your family for Holi.

A civilisation that forgets it's history is never forgiven.
Those who forget history are condemned to repeat it.

How many Hindus ever heard of the *Prahladpuri Temple* in Multan. Multan was also the site for one of the greatest Sun Temple of India, the *Aditya Sun Temple*, that was destroyed first by Muhammad bin Qasim and later completely destroyed by Mahmud of Ghazni in 1026 AD.

Multan's name comes from the Sanskrit term Mula Sthana, it meant the 'original abode' and housed a massive Aditya Sun Temple. Multan is said to have been founded by Kasyap, father of Hiranya Kasyap, after whom it was named Kasyapapur
When the Buddhist pilgrim Hieun Tsang travelled throughout India,he crossed through the Sindh province he reached the province of Multan, which he described as MU-LO-SAN-PU-LU (MULASTHANAPUR). Hieun Tsang makes a grand description of the Aditya Sun Temple and identified it as one of the most famous Hindu temple and was visited in large numbers by pilgrims.

Coming back to forgotten Prahladpuri Temple associated with Holi Holika Dahan, the ancient temple of Prahladpuri is said to have been built by Prahlad, son of Hiranyakashipu, in honor of the Narsingh Avatar, an avatar of Lord Vishnu, who emerged from the pillar to save Prahlad. The shrine stands in ruins to this day.

Prahladpuri Temple here has an idol of Lord Vishnu in the incarnated form of Narasimha (A half human and half lion form)

So while we celebrate Holika Dahan remember the original site of Holi shall remain in ruins in Multan.
This is the story of our greatest temples🚩

From Sharda Peeth to Prahladpuri temple
All in ruins and rubbles and such history is forgotten and worst still never taught to us.

*Holika* symbolically represents ignorance –desires, ego, avarice, jealousy, anger which constantly multiplies in us.  And we regularly reproduce our desire, ego, anger, frustration, avarice and jealousy. This piles up and covers the pure self. Child-like pure nature is covered with everything unwanted.

On Holika Dahan we burn out all impurities. When the impurities are removed we rediscover the child in us.
The child in us then celebrates Holi the next day with color – celebration of innocence and purity, DHULETI.
All the enemies of India will burn in this fire too...

*Holika Dahan ki badhaiyan* …..*Hutasani Purnima* .....
