**THE LAST BUS*

I was amongst the last few in merit in my course and amongst a couple who could ( rightly so.😜 ) not make it to the selection grade rk of Lt Col ( I think we were the last ones to go through the selection bd for promotion to the rk of Lt Col ).
I was posted in MCTE, FOS then and I vividly remember I was sitting in the College library, preparing a presentation on US invasion of Iraq when the bd results were declassified . Though, my result was a - READ MORE >>>>
foregone conclusion, yet I had that fading ray of hope , against all odds , that I may get moving with my crowd . Alas ! It was not to be. I became a straggler at a young age of 35.

The herd moved on and I have been on my own with my ilk, ever since . It is definitely tough to reconcile and be at peace with your own self, no matter how brave a front that you put up . Reconciliation with your soul, initially, is tough. Nonetheless, gradually you resign yourself to your fate , self pity takes a back seat and you realise that your future course thereafter is all well set and well chartered with little ambiguity in sight.
Willy nilly you get your brand name embossed on your forehead -- *superseded, yet hard working and a thorough gentleman .. or something akin to that.* Best of your course mates, though they try to empathise with you, have their own limitations in accommodating you . You no longer fit into their scheme of things. The guys you are working with, do not fit into your scheme of things. You are like a round peg in a square hole - a misfit in the system, thereafter.
The lady too finds herself stranded . You got to step aside or move on with the tide . It is again a tough call with the encumbrance that you may have, by then.
Your well wishers start advising you to concentrate on something positive - yoga, meditation, cycling, golf , walking, writing.. or anything that keeps you occupied and in positive frame of mind. The system puts you in 'B ' category of officers . The TS tag takes care of the rest and ensures that you do not lose your unique identity 😜.
I have no rancour or any such ill feelings against the system . It is but natural that the weeding out and filtration of , the good, the bad and the ugly ( my types 😉 ) has to be done at some stage. All of us can not move forward in an Extended Line formation. The better lot needs to move ahead and get all the fanfare accompanying it. Fair enough.
However, it would be good in case the Left Overs are not treated as a scum of the earth. A few like me, who are good for nothing ( other than writing some nonsense every now and then to the annoyance of the admin ☺☺ ) and become a burden for the org at some stage , may be siphoned out . But believe me, all those of you who are doing well for yourself and for this holy org, having worn the *superseded* tag for good about 17 years now, many of us are not that bad- professionally or otherwise. Try and hold our hand and take us as far fwd as possible. We are all alive and kicking and will surely walk the talk till our last stop.
