This is a dated article of 2016 vintage but very relevant on the issue of induction of women in Combat Arms.  The General Officer, who was the Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff of the US Armed Forces, resigned over the issue of induction of women into combat arms. Gen Dunford blamed the President Obama and the Secretary of Defence for this change.
